If You're Ever In Madison, Wisconsin......
By Sue Hunter
If you're ever in Madison, Wis., stop by the Conservatory, Olbrich Gardens. A great winter escape! The Bolz Conservatory is a lush tropical get away! This sunny, green paradise is filled with exotic plants, bright flowers, a rushing waterfall, fragrant orchids and free-flying birds.
The Conservatory houses over 750 plants representing over 70 families and over 550 different species. Wildlife includes free flying birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles.
My kids, ages 5 years and 18 months, love this place! There's always something new to see around every corner. We usually spend a couple hours exploring the indoor rain forest.
Olbrich Gardens is located on the east side of Madison on Atwood Avenue. It is easily accessible from I-90/94. Cost to access the conservatory is $1 per person; children 5 and under are free. Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 10 a.m. to noon are free for everyone.
