If You're Ever In Madison, Wisconsin...
By Shel Franco
If you're ever in Madison, Wisc., stop by Henry Vilas Park and spend the day. Located just off Madison's fashionable Monroe Street, at 702 South Randall Avenue, Vilas Park has something for everyone.
Start your morning off with a brisk walk through the beautiful University of Wisconsin Arboretum, a peaceful haven overflowing with native plants and animals. Once you've worked up a sweat, take a dip at Henry Vilas Beach and relax in the sun.
There are picnic tables galore and lots of wide-open spaces, not to mention two playgrounds brimming with excitement. So enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the kids run free. Just be sure they don't get too tired; you'll want to make certain they have enough energy to walk through Henry Vilas Zoo.
With over 700 species of animals, Vilas Zoo is a real mom, dad, and kid pleaser, even without the reasonably priced admission -- FREE. That's right. A family day at Vilas Park doesn't have to cost you a dime. Now, what could be better than that?
