California Adventure Park
Kid-friendly Fun with Some Familiar Faces
By C.J. Johnson
I know two great secrets about Disney's California Adventure Park that will appeal to parents of young children. First, there is virtually no wait for children to meet their favorite Disney characters. Compared to the long lines at Disneyland, this is a real bonus for autograph seekers. Second, there is rarely a wait for rides created specifically for small children. Little ones can jump into fun quickly and experience all their ride options before they fizzle out for the day.
In addition to these two fabulous bonuses, there are several attractions that make the California Adventure a must-see destination.
It's Tough to Be a Bug!
A brilliant, hilarious take on life as a bug. Audience members are bombarded by black widows, pelted with darts from a tarantula and sprayed with acid from a termite. A stink bug – "Claire de Room" – even mists the audience with his odoriferous gas. The final words from the announcer ask the audience to stay put while beetles, maggots and cockroaches leave the theater first. The rigged seats buzz beneath audience members as the imaginary bugs exit under them.
Jim Henson's Muppet Vision 3D
Kermit and the crew put on a lively show complete with explosions, escaping rabbits and furry monsters. Miss Piggy warbles love songs, and Fozzie tries to stay out of trouble. Children will love the playfulness of this show.
